rarr for some unknown, infuriating reason, facebook is being extraordinarily slow in uploading my pics - and everytime i try to use their new uploader, the upload fails just right at the last minute. and their simple uploader isn't any better - if i upload more than four pics at a time, it just hangs and gives me the 404 page cannot be found message. RARRR.
nevertheless, the merits of putting up the pictures on facebooks versus say flickr or other photosharing communities outweighs the trouble of the whole process so i am stuck waiting for the photos to upload four by four...
today was a nice, relaxed day. i finished the book by james joyce, went swimming in the late morning, lazed around & did part of my literature project, then went for tuition & met simeon for dinner :) i do so love relaxed days. no rushing, no need to think about what should be done next, in systematic robotic order. freedom :)

| of school work |
[ | |
August 18, 2008
| | ] |
i actually enjoy schoool work. yup, you heard me! but as with everything i like, i only like school work with given circumstances. 1. it has to be challenging yet not completely insurmountable, so that my mind will think and conquer, instead of thinking until my head hurts with no result at all = ego crushed & late nights & panic attacks X( 2. i am happy, therefore i can gleefully do my work 3. i can take my time researching the topic and sometimes, going beyond the topic - just because i'm interested in it. :)
& presently i am blissfully enjoying my schoolwork for all my 5 modules because they fit all the criteria above. joy joy joy!
ok i may sound ridiculously like such a nerd, i think i am just expressing my joy because being a literature major does suit me. more so than i thought.
photos of my adventures to the bird park and random other places will be put up soon! birdpark was rather awesome and i met an interesting person! hahahahaha.

| on huii's command.. |
[ | |
August 17, 2008
| | ] |
alrighty, not exactly on huii's command but i felt like doing it so anyways...
THINGS ABOUT ME YOU MAY NOT ALREADY KNOW which is rare, since i'm ratherr open about almost everything on my life anyways..
01) Are you currently in a serious relationship? yes, & gladly so :)
02) What was your dream growing up? when i was just a little girl, i asked my mother, what i would be? i wanted to be a BUTTERFLY!! but ate & slept like a PIG, so here's what she said to me... Que Sera Sera, whatever will be will be, your future doesn't concern me, but you must have lots of MONEY.
03) What talent do you wish you had? i wish i could sing better & play the piano better & write my essays better, & have the perseverence & determination to pen down that novel that has been stuck in my head since forever..
04) If I bought you a drink what would it be? something sweet. i dunno. i'm pretty much easy going really. hahaha.
05) Favorite vegetable? CARROT! if it counts as a vegetable that is. i like to munch on it. sweet & crunchy.
06) What was the last book you read? A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man - by James Joyce
07) What zodiac sign are you? Pisces the two fish thingy.
08) Any Tattoos and/or Piercings? Explain where. closed ear piercings, always wanted a cute little fairy tatto but never got one. damn.
09) Worst Habit? habits you mean - i am by no means perfect hahaha. my worst (that i personally know of) are probably my messy nature & how i always forget to take off my nail polish so it ends up looking really chipped & ugly oops. then again i might have other terribly terrible habits that i am blissfully unaware of, because like any other human i am blind to my flaws & continue to persist with them in my gleeful ignorance. lol.
10) If you saw me walking down the street would you offer me a ride? nope. i've no personal vehicle to speak of.
11) What is your favorite sport? swimming :)
12) Do you have a Negative or Optimistic attitude? optimistic! (mostly)
13) What would you do if you were stuck in an elevator with me? i would talk. and talk. and laugh, and discuss ways to escape out of the elevator unscathed. then if you were a girl we'd probably end up gossiping on shopping & random things blah blah & if you were a guy you'd probably end up talking about army because that's all that guys talk about anyways. of course if you're a very antisocial creepy/supremely annoying person i'll just make myself as small as possible & squeeze into my corner & call my boyfriend and squeak to him that you're so very, very freaky & i'll ask him to save us. hahaha.
14) Worst thing to ever happen to you? icky moth flew into my hair & i didn't know why my head was itching so i scratched and the moth promply burst into a pulp of icky grey green stuff and i freaked & washed my hair like 3 times.
15) Tell me one weird fact about you. i am a self imposed insomniac - i deliberately stay awake even though my whole body is screaming for sleep & i don't know why but i just do it anyway.
16) Do you have any pets? nope. i begged for a cat but my dad doesn't like cats, i asked for a dog and my mom says all dogs only shit on beds, but they say i can keep a hamster but i haven't gotten one yet.
17) What if i showed up at your house unexpectedly? i would say hello! but anyway i wouldn't be home i think, unless you turned up before 6am in the morning or after 11pm at night. otherwise i'm out. retired, naggy, bored parents i have you see....
18) What was your first impression of me? oh dear are you supposed to be huii's? LOL. I JUST REALIZED. omg i'm an idiot. ok ok huiis! my first impression of you i cannot remember because i have short term memory and i cannot remember any first impressions i had of anyone unless i met them 5 minutes ago and you know me so you must forgive me okay okay!! but there must've been a reason why i like to curl my hand around your finger. hahahahaha. my hand is seriously so blooody freakin small..
19) Do you think clowns are cute or scary? depends on the makeup. i think cartoon clowns are alright, but the batman clown (heath ledger as the joker) was dang right freaky. actually in our asian society we don't see many clowns. they're not essential to our culture/lifestyle so i haven't ever seen a clown in real life. its the crazy american people who came up with them.
20) If you could change one thing about how you look, what would it be? um. my complexion i guess? plus a FLATTER TUMMY YAY!!
21) Would you be my crime partner or my conscience? both. i would be a very conscientious crime partner. hahaha.
22) What color eyes do you have? people say i have brown-black eyes.
23) Ever been arrested? nope. but... i've been called out by the principle in front of the whole school once, been made to stand in front of assembly by the discipline mistress once, and i've had my parents called to school for my misdemeanours too. oh and i was warned by some police officer or something LOL.
24) Bottle or can soda? ah i don't really like sodas so i'll opt for the can.
25) If you won $10,000 today, what would you do with it? i would... pay for all my lit texts to reduce the burden of my parents (i estimate around $500 until the end of my education) pay for my driving ($2000 including driving classes and exam fees etc) set aside some for a nice holiday to aussie to visit simeon when he's there for air force training (estimated $1000 inclusive of living expenses) set aside money for shopping as a treat to myself! $500! put the rest in my bank account to save :0)
seriously $10000 isn't enough. i can't buy a house, car or even rent an apartment for > 5 years. oh well.
27) What's your favorite place to hang at? my room :) i can spend days in it. it has everything i need - internet, books, my music, food (yes i have a secret stash!!), clothes, private bathroom. yay.
28) Do you believe in ghosts? sometimes?! depends on how creepy the environment is. haha.
29) Favorite thing to do in your spare time? read & play scramble on facebook.
30) Do you swear a lot? nope.
31) Biggest pet peeve? presently, gladiator sandals that are overtly overwhelming. like those that reach waay up to the knee. eeks. disgusting. i'm fine with those that are more simplistic & restricted to the ankle area though, & i actually like those that come in wedge/heel form. in the past, i used to really really dislike girls who wore tights as PANTS. omg. i personally like stockings, but not as pants?! seeing the fine definition of someone else's butt plus getting a hint at what panty colour she's wearing isn't a pleasant sight at all, no matter how slim you are... but my BIGGEST PET PEEVE OF ALL TIME, is open toed shoes. rarrr i hate those open toed shoes - not every shoe that is open toed is my enemy, but only those shoes that have that small little irritating hole at the tip. WHY are all these open toed things dominating the market? arrgh. not only do the first three toes of my feet always feel confused about whether they should protrude out or not, (since NONE of these irritating holes at the tip accomodate for all of them nicely but chafe & cause abrasion at the sides painfully) plus the colour of my feet (and sometimes toenails) sometimes conflict with the overall aesthetics of the shoe, which is displeasing to my eye.
32) In one word, how would you describe yourself? content.
33) Do you believe/appreciate romance? yes :) romance is not about being a good lover per se. instead, i believe the beauty of romance is how someone puts in the effort & time etc in order to make someone happy - which is the ultimate gift anyone can give :)
35) Do you believe in God? generally.
36) Will you repost this so I can fill it out and do the same for you? i am doing it riggght now...

| lol speaking of environmentally friendly |
[ | |
August 14, 2008
| | ] |
in the wake of all the concern about global warming etc etc, allow me to bravely bear the wrath of hardcore environmentalists when i say this - i don't believe in solar energy. and why? well simply because the bulk of the electricity i personally use comes from my night time activities - i.e. turning the lights on so i can read/use internet etc. moreover, what are you going to do when the sky becomes cloudy?? what if it rains?? what if a bird lands and sits on your solar panel ?!? forgive me for my overactive imagination, but i believe i am silmply stating the facts lol. and yes singapore has been horrendously cloudy of late, and it seemingly chooses to be cloudy only when i want to go swimming, or when i am just about to leave the house. evil, evil clouds. otherwise, it is simply blazing hot. rarr.
of course the propositioned marriage of solar powered appliances and electrical appliances does sound wonderfully magical, but til then, i am staying off the solar powered route for now. anyways, the excerpt below from the wonderfully amusing http://www.notalwaysright.com has made my day and laid my case on the flaws of solar energy to rest. enjoy!
(Note: this story takes place at a bank in Zimbabwe.) Teller: “Good morning sir, how may I help you?” Me: “Good morning, please may I withdraw 100 billion?” (This is about 1 US dollar.) Teller: “I’m very sorry sir, but we do not have enough sun.” Me: “What!?” Teller: “We cannot give you money because we do not have enough sun.” Me: “Why do you need sun to give me money?” Teller: “Oh, we are having a power cut, and the solar panel isn’t receiving enough sun to run the computers.” Me: *laughs* “Thank you very much for the best excuse, ever.” Teller: “You’re welcome sir, have a good day.”

remember my previous obsession with cutesy girl? well someone is holding a cutesygirl spree & the dress i wanted just went OOS :| BUT! there are other versions of the dress, in different colours. so help me pick! which one is nicer? the white or the black?? i'm actually leaning towards the black simply because the gold accents stand out better, but the leatherette detailing stands out much more on the white.
cast your votes, & i shall decide tonight X)
OR
should i be unable to decide, i shall simply not purchase anything. or.. hunt simeon down to help make my decision. hahaha.

GAHH school is gonna start. am i happy? am i not? i am torn between the two.
whilst i have been anxiously (and happily) gathering all that stationary for school (yes i am one of those crazed stationary lovers), i can't help but dreaad the dawn of school, assignments & mind boggling theories and all. shucks.
but as the old adage says, " time waits for no man "
so time is flying, i am freaking, and hoping my tummy will miraculously flatten itself while i munch on bakkwa as i attempt to console myself. HAHA. speaking of food, everyone should try out Julie's Butter Waffles!
yes as you all can tell, i am a foodie. who eats and eats and eats delicious things simply because they are yummy & delicious. lol!! yummy pictures aside, look at these pretty hair accessories!! i saw the shop off fashionation & decided to take a look & i fell in lovee with how gorgeous they are - too bad i don't have paypal. *sobs*
hmm the shop doesnt allow me to take off single images, so here's a collage of some accessories off their main page :)
admittedly, not all the creations would be very wearable for day to day use, but there are the precious few that i wouldn't mind wearing out just for the fun of it :) that being said, i think all of them are pretty fantastic X)
* is inspired to try making one of these someday. *
I WENT SWIMMING!! YAY i'm so proud of myself today. lol.
oh freak i hate photobucket. webshot rules & kicks ass. i waited for hourrss to get my photos up on photobucket & gave up so YEAH to webshots that i joined while waiting for photobucket to upload one photo....
anyway since webshots is sooo awesome, here are some random photos from my summer hols XD

haha so i was randomly stumbling on the net as i usually do when i'm bored and waiting for my shows to load when i discovered Fr3b. ahah! as some of the more discerning readers can see, it's actually "Freebie" spelt in wacky sms language - i did always dislike sms language coz i felt it practically mutilated the english language, but oh well, with a limit on smses (in the past when i was young), there was an inevitable need to use it, hence its popularity.
ook ok so aside from the cute name, IT GIVES OUT FREE SAMPLES! not from some weird brands, but from great brands such as maybelline, l'oreal, bioessence, nivea, Ascience etc. and the best part is... this website is based in Singapore.
happiness!! so click here to get to the site & snap up all the goodies too! :D of course there's the freaky obligatory part where you have to actually put down your name etc and give them your address so they can mail it to you - but i think that's really not much, revealing your identity!!! lol. actually i think given how private & reclusive singaporeans can be, this is a much better option of trying loads of stuff instead of hanging out at the departmental stores/cosmetics counter with the perpetual shadowing presence of a shop assistant staring at you with her eagle eyes. rarr i hate shop assistants sometimes. so creeepy.
YAY for free stuff!!! XD

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHUUU!!!
haha shuu's birthday was eons ago on the 29th July but today simeon & i popped by her class outing/lunch at carl's junior & presented her with a hazelnut primadeli cake (which was really yummy with real hazelnuts inside!!) & a holga GCFN with a fisheye lens plus a 35mm film adaptor (all this compliments of the kidsREAD gang & SC5) & she was super super happy & smiled til her face became even cuter & rounder & we took photos & ate lunch & had a great time all together :D
life would suck without friends.
on a side note, the watsons mega sale at expo isn't supremely fantastic, coz its mainly chockfull of mega clearance stuff - think towels, bedsheets (super cheap & quite pretty though! but only for super single sized beds), pillows, food! lots and lots of food. not that much makeup or facial cleansers, so oh well. BUT if you use Olay you should probably drop by, coz there's an Olay counter there yup! for guys - i'm sorry, but today the gillette razors were a sell out! apparently they were super cheap but i wouldn't know since i don't have any use for it. haha.
schoool's starting soon & i'm all hyped to start! my long neglected pens are already itching to scratch the surfaces of the gorgeously plain, lined books lying in my drawers. & i couldn't help but already begin reading up on twentieth century literature & other random books that struck my fancy while i browsed the library shelves. in my utopia, time would stop, the sun would mellow & the birds would sing while people sat back, relax, have a coffee & read (for free!)
speaking of the sun, the world has been blazing hot of late - i swear i felt like melting whilst walking to junhao's house to teach tuition this morning. & according to the weather forecast, it doesn't look like this heat will cease anytime soon, crap. so slap on the sunblock, wear those sunglasses & hold your umbrellas like little tai tais ok! Prevention is better than... i forgot the ending, but i'm sure the last word is along the lines of agony, disaster, regret. lol.

haha ok i'm not usually one who advertises on my blog, but here goes :)
I WANNA WIN A HERMES BIRKIN! lol. so i need 20 people to go click that thing - and IF you register you get a chance to win it too! yupps. actually i could just email people but ah.. with all the spam and junk, i'd rather not. heheh. aren't i a nice one? :)

cozycot is pretty interesting - you get free samples of random stuff! (of your choosing of course) and i've already gotten various samples from clinique & escada, so i can definitely assure you they're not lying :) the stuff takes awhile to arrive though, it doesn't come overnight! but i suspect that's due to singpost's horrid monopoly over the postage services here, bah.
randomly, let me confess that i have an obsession with free sachets of stuff. LOL! i store them up and then whenever i go for holiday trips i get into this excited frenzy coz i can try something new everytime!! whoo!! well sachets of stuff are easier to bring overseas rather than the bottles of my facial cleanser etc or shampoo bottle so hey, its killing two birds with one stone. i get to try stuff, AND i have more space in my luggage when i return :) happiness. plus, samples are a great way to get to know a product & how well it suits you yupps :) haha i remember secretly going gaga with all the NUS free stuff when i was a freshie while the rest of my friends were complaining that they had stuff to lug home lol. okk. i shall not turn into another advertising freak like dawn yang & i shall cease my advertising here. haha.
CLICK IT!!! X)

yep my tummy's slightly better. finally :)
my mood has also improved tremendously! yay. today i had much fun playing mahjong at rui's house then heading to ikea with simeoffie :) got new stuff to continue decorating my room! haha my very prolonged "re-decoration" of my room has taken almost two years? - from painting it purple (simeoffie's pre-army days), plus the installation of the black shelves, cupboard etc, then the introduction of the standing fan (YESSS!! my parents think air-conditioning kills. whateverr.) & now! pretty bird paintings from bangkok which will hang in my room with my lovely monet reprints and wall deco, courtesy of ikea :) mmm i also bought two medium sized photoframes, which i plan to fill up with many many pictures of people & simeoffie :)
pictures will come (FINALLY) when i'm all done, which will hopefully be by the end of this week. i was contemplating a cactus too, but oh well. i think it would gather dust and die of neglect. oops.
anyway, i'm thinking of blog-shifting again heh X) its TBA! i think wordpress is a pretty good option, & i'll leave my password for locked entries here when i leave, under a "friends entry". then both my lj & non lj friends can read it! yuppps.

my tummy hurts. stupid bangkok. rarrr. i think i spend more time in the toilet rather than lazing around in my bed as i planned to do. (i initially planned to swim too!) but alas my stomach demands to see the toilet a tad too often. both my butt & the toilet bowl were humans, i'd swear that they're a lovesick puppy love honeymoon couple, inseperable and grumpy/grieved when seperated. my apologies for the very inappropriate metaphor but forgive me for the lack of creativity. add the grumpiness and discomfort factor & this is what you get. i'm too sick to answer calls while sounding chirpy & perky & all, so forgive me (yes, once again) if i answer your call(s) with a half dead zombified voice.
no, i am not asleep, no, you did not wake me up, YES i am grumpy and sick and tired.
no, i do not wish to eat charcoal. hahaha. lol. > i might though if this gets worse.
ignore me for awhile whilst i recuperate, my dear friends. i will meet up with you ALL when i'm well. yes.
smses are preferable at this moment, as i can answer them in a more detached manner, with little of that guilty conscience. thank you.

whoooo! i'm back. & really really tired to boot. got loads of stuff, but missed out on some stuff due to my unbelievably horrific habit of indecisiveness & inability to properly convert baht into SGD and judge... but oh well. i'm still rather happy with my stuff. i spent every single little baht that i had, & we starved ourselves (kinda) on the first two days for lunch & dinner, mostly coz we couldn't decide what to eat, or had wisely gorged ourselves sufficiently during the hotel buffet breakfast. smart.
ah i've just had my 20th visit to the toilet this morning... thai food rocks but its a tad too unhygenic for my stomach, methinks. the experience was worth it though!
i think.. thailand would be supremely fantastic, if it wasn't so hot. haha. ok ok a more detailed update next time! i need to go shite again. damn.
